This was the last image I saw of the 2020-21 basketball season. (Brian Wilmer/CHD)
This is a rare occurrence. I'm usually writing season epilogues, trying to condense a half-year of my life into 3,500 (or so) words. I've spent 10 seasons writing them. Thankfully, there'll be at least one more. Hi, I'm Brian.
For those who know me, I'm two of the following three things:
a) a USBWA member hoops writer who helped Josh launch CHD
b) a short-but-handsome man with devilishly good looks and six-pack abs
c) based in South Carolina, focused mainly on covering Big South, C-USA, ASUN, and A-10 basketball (primarily the former) I'll let you decide which to believe.
I'll keep this as short as I can, because I can get a little wordy.
This is the culmination of a decade of work -- of building relationships, of pecking away in dark gyms and trains, of booking hotels at the last minute and driving multiple hours over a mountain, and who knows what else.
It's also been a decade of great personal and professional triumph for Josh and me, along with the many who have been part of this along the way. There have been plenty of setbacks and heartbreaks, too.
Enough about that.
It's a new day. We're now part of House Enterprise, a lifestyle brand that allows you to read about more subjects than you can comprehend -- after you've finished reading my stuff, of course. If you're used to reading CHD, not much should change for you, aside from the URL. We'll be right back on press row, telling the same stories we've told in the same way we've done so.
All we ask in return is that you continue to support us as you've always done. Not much of a request, eh?
Buckle up. The ride's about to get really fun.
Get yourself ready for hoops by checking out my podcast series, in which I interviewed a number of Big South coaches at this year's Media Day event!
