DMV Star of the Week - Bradley Beal

Every week, across several sports, players around the DMV shine in individual performance. Every Monday, I’d like to take a minute to highlight some of those performances, including what I view as the best performance and name that athlete the “DMV Star of the Week.”

This week’s DMV Star of the Week is Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal.

The Wizards star averaged 27 PPG across the three games for Washington last week, leading the team in points per game for the week and leading the team to two victories.

In his best performance, Beal scored 27 points and added 6 assists and 6 rebounds in a 113-110 upset win over the Phoenix Suns.

The DMV saw eight teams in action this past week, including the Washington Commanders, Washington Capitals, Washington Wizards, and the Georgetown, George Washington, Maryland, American and Howard basketball teams.

Here are some honorable mention performances for DMV Star of the Week:

  • The Washington Capitals are HOT, having won nine of its past ten games

  • Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma scored at least 21 points in each of Washington’s games this past week, including a 32 point performance in Friday’s win over Sacramento, in which he added 9 rebounds and 5 assists

  • Capitals forward Markus Johnson scored the game-winning goal in overtime to win 3-2 over Ottawa on Thursday night

  • Capitals winger and two-time DMV Star of the Week Alex Ovechkin scored twice in Washington’s 4-1 win over Winnipeg on Friday night, including the 802nd goal of his career, surpassing Gordie Howe for 2nd all time in NHL career goals, only behind Wayne Gretzky (894)
