DMV Star of the Week - Eden James

Updated: Oct 13, 2023

Every week, across several sports, players around the DMV (D.C./Maryland/Virginia) shine in individual performance. Every Monday, I’d like to take a minute to highlight some of those performances, including what I view as the best performance and name that athlete the “DMV Star of the Week.”

This week’s DMV Star of the Week is Howard Football Running Back Eden James.

The sophomore out of Port St. Lucie, FL is the leading rusher for Howard on the year after Saturday’s performance against Northwestern.

In a 23-20 loss, James rushed for 177 yards on just 21 carries, averaging 8.4 yards per carry, and scored a touchdown. The TD came in the 4th quarter on a 64 yard run that cut the deficit to 10.

Along with the 177 yards on the ground, James caught 3 passes for 36 yards, bringing his total yardage to over 200 on the day.

The Bison are 2-3 on the year but their last two losses have been by a combined 4 points.

Next up, James and the Bison head to Harvard to see if they can knock off the Crimson.

The DMV saw six teams in action this past week, including the Washington Commanders, D.C. United, Washington Spirit, Maryland and Howard football teams, and the Washington Capitals in preseason.

Here are some honorable mention performances for DMV Star of the Week:

  • Washington Commanders Quarterback Sam Howell threw for 388 yards on 51 attempts and 2 touchdowns in Thursday’s loss against Chicago
