It's safe to say that the MLB Home Run Derby is the best competition amongst the four pro-sport leagues during an All-Star break. It's unfortunate that neither league leader in home runs (Shohei Ohtani from the AL, Matt Olson from the NL) will be represented, though there is some pop still present in the event.
Seeds were determined by amount of home runs hit during the regular season through, and the stage is now set. Will Pete Alonso, the heavy favorite, tie Ken Griffey Jr. with three derby titles? Will the hometown kid of Julio Rodriguez impress on the big stage? Or is there an outsider who will win it all?

If there is a death round, it's the first round between Alonso and Rodriguez. Eyeing for his third straight title, Pete Alonso felt to J-Rod in the semifinals last year. Julio Rodriguez went on to hit a total of 81 home runs in the tournament, but fell to Juan Soto in the final round.
In my opinion, whoever makes it out of this round is going to win it all. All eyes are on the Polar Bear and the legacy, but my money is on Julio, who gets a possible hometown advantage with the event being hosted in Seattle.
My Darkhorse pick of the competition is Mookie Betts. He has the third-most homers this year among competitors, yet his odds sit at +1000.
