No need to open up any wounds, the Eagles flat out embarrassed the Giants on Sunday. Game was over right from the start. It was lopsided, it was ugly, it wasn't enjoyable to watch. After starting the season 6-2 heading into their bye, the Giants have fallen back to reality, but worse. They are 1-3-1 in their last five.
From playoff locks to now barely sneaking by, the NFC is loaded with talent from top to bottom. As it stands, the Giants hold the final playoff spot by the skin of their teeth. Who else is in competition for that final spot? Well three teams they either either lost or tied to. Commanders (7-5-1), Seattle Seahawks (7-6) and Detroit Lions (6-7). Lovely. You win those games, you don't have to stress, but now it's crunch time.
To make matters worse, the Giants have to face the Commanders this week, they hold one of the hardest remaining schedules, and the Lions have one of the easier draws of games and they are red hot right not.
So how do the Giants ensure a playoff berth? The simple answer is to win out, but obviously easier said then done.
If they get the job done against the Commanders, and the Seahawks lose to the 49ers, and the Lions defeat the Jets, they would be sitting pretty. It becomes a grim reality if the the Giants do however lose to Washington. They would have no division wins, and also no tie-breaker advantages against these three teams. The Giants have never gone winless in division in a single season, but that could happen this year.
Things have been bleak after a red-hot start. Not making any excuses, but this team has been hit by a bus with injuries. Ideally, you have to come in and take down the Commanders, no doubt about that. You put yourself in the drivers seat. The Viking game is a toss up, but doable. The Colts should be an easy W. The finale against Philly could go either way, because the Eagles have locked up the No. 1 seed with ease.
As of today, the Giants have a 45% chance to make the playoffs. The Commanders are at 73%, the Seahawks sit at 55%,a nd the Lions are at 20%. Buckle up, it's December football.
