Cashman said "watch this" like Usher, and it's now go time.
Getting swept by the Mets and falling below .500 in the month of July put Cash into a mood. With fans getting agitated, but the holes and needs becoming so glaring, the New York Yankees acquired Andrew Benintendi from the Kansas City Royals in a late nigh deal. The reinforcements are coming and some big changes are being made. The move is so crazy, Benny even said he's gonna get vaxxed!
The once golden boy of Boston is now a New York Yankee. All is well in the world. A true rental on an expiring contract, the All-Star is batting .320 this season, with 39 RBI's. He's everything Gallo is, but better. A lefty high contact bat, high average, and a very good fielder. That's a major upgrade from the current left fielder, who has seen limited time this past month. It's safe to say the Joey Gallo era seems to be coming to an end. Thanks for nothing.
The three pitching prospects the Yanks shipped to Kansas City were RHP Chandler Champlain, LHP T.J. Sikkema (Yankees 19th Ranked Prospect) and RHP Beck Way (#21). Champlain was 2-5 with a 4.30 ERA for the Tampa Tarpons. Sikkema (1-1, 2.48 ERA) and Way (5-5, 3.73 ERA) both played for the Hudson Valley Renegades.
A three headed monster of Judge-Stanton-Benintendi is beautiful. Welcome to the Bronx, Benny Bats. This move probably puts the Yankees out of Soto (maybe), but hopefully not out of Luis Castillo. Either way, the trade deadline is under way. Let's go win Benintendi a 2nd ring and good play on Cashman to make a splash.
Side Note - How smart of the Yankees to get a guy from a team they playing this week. Kansas City will literally hand delivering their guy to New York.
