Happy Monday, Metro Hoops Fans! A big weekend for Iona and Wagner, and a tough one for pretty much everyone else has given our pundits at College Hoops Digest plenty of different ways to cast their votes in this week's Metro Poll. Check out how they ranked the nine schools below.
The Metro Poll, Week 13
No surprises here on top of the Poll, as Iona not only goes 10-0 in conference play with a win over St. Peter's, but Rick Pitino gets his 800th career win as a coach. With a career as long and as illustrious as Pitino's, the fact that he hit this milestone with the Gaels is pretty dang awesome. What could be even better for the Gaels, however, could be what Pitino said after the win. Speaking to The Journal News, Pitino described the significance of getting this win in Iona, and how if he ever hits 1,000, he'd like to do it with the Gaels. While anyone would probably talk up their current employer in a moment like this, I really think it's an indicator of how Pitino will probably stay at Iona for the foreseeable future. As soon as he took this job in 2020, there were talks about where Pitino would use his success at Iona to springboard to. However, with a third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament looming, what reason is there to go?
