Will Zalatoris is due for a win, after third 2nd place major finish in the past year.

The US Open. This year, played at one of the oldest country clubs in the U.S., "The Country Club: in Brookline, Massachusetts. It was a fantastic weekend of golf t

The winner came from Matt Fitzpatrick, who's played in over 100 PGA tour events. 22 top-10 finishes and twice a runner up. A lengthy tenure, but he's never won a single event. That obviously all changed today.

A wonderful story and congrats to Fitzpatrick! Every championship has the second place finisher, and unfortunately that was Will Zalatoris. The 25 year old Wake Forest product, and 54 hole leader in the US Open, is the next golfer to keep an eye on in terms of being due for a win.

You can say that about anyone, but Zalatoris might be that dude. If you aren't familiar with him, he famously came into the scenes after getting compared to the Caddy in Happy Gilmore.

His looks might have caught the eyes of everyone, but his game does the real talking. He went pro in 2018, with his first pro-victory coming in July of 2020 at the TPC Colorado Championship. In his first Major at the U.S. Open at Winged Foot, he tied for 6th place. After that, it's been all up hill and success, but he has hit a patch of second place finishes, which are just brutal.

  • April 2021: Zalatoris was second in the Masters Tournament with a score of 9-under-par, finishing one stroke behind champion Hideki Matsuyama. Zalatoris was voted PGA Tour Rookie of the Year though for the 2020-21 season.

  • January 2022: Zalatoris tied for the lead of the Farmers Insurance Open after 72 holes. He lost a sudden-death playoff to Luke List.

  • May 2022: Zalatoris finished second in the PGA Championship. It was a playoff round against Justin Thomas.

  • June 2022: Zalatoris finished tied for second with Scottie Scheffler at the US Open, ultimately losing to Matt Fitzpatrick.

Rough... He can't close out right now, but there is nobody hotter in the game then Zalatoris in my opinion.

His next opportunity for a Major will be in about a month, when the Tour heads to the historic St. Andrews Links in Scotland for the British Open (The Open Championship), which will be from July 14-17.

I'll be responsibly betting on Zalatoris, because like I said, he's due.
