Best Bets: NBA Draft

The Golden State Warriors have been crowned NBA champions and with that out of the way we can officially move into everyone's favorite time of year, NBA Draft season. Hope springs eternal for long-languishing franchises seeking their next superstar.

It also leaves an opportunity for some money to be made. DraftKings has finally released more of their NBA Draft odds so let's take a look at my top five value plays to take a flyer on.

1. 5th Overall Pick - Bennedict Mathurin +800

I've been on this one for a few weeks and Mathurin was as high as +2000 in recent days. Jump on him now at +800 while you still can as intel has been coming in that the Pistons may well be ready to pull the trigger on him if they are unable to move up for Jaden Ivey.

2. Jeremy Sochan Draft Position – Over 12.5 +110

The odds on this one aren’t great but there just isn’t really a landing spot for Sochan inside the top 12 picks. He went #17 in my latest mock draft to Houston.

3. First to be drafted Blake Wesley vs. Dalen Terry – Dalen Terry +200

I’m a little surprised to see Wesley is favored in this one. As much as I love Blake (#9 on my Big Board) he’s a guy who has a little bit of work to do before he’s ready to contribute and Dalen Terry is someone that NBA executives have been raving about in the past few weeks.

4. Team’s First Pick New York Knicks – Shaedon Sharpe +1500

Again I’m slightly surprised about how long the odds are on this one. Sharpe is the mystery of this year’s draft class. He didn’t play a single game at Kentucky this past season and the way the situation was handled could be called “shady” at best which has allegedly turned some NBA teams off. I doubt Shaedon makes it to #11 for the Knicks but it absolutely isn’t out of the realm of possibility and is well worth a few bucks at +1500.

5. Top 10 Pick – Ousmane Dieng +450

This would be a bit of a reach for Dieng by most accounts but I would not be shocked at all to see the Spurs take a swing on a huge upside international guy like Dieng with the #9 pick.
