DMV Star of the Week - James Bishop IV

Every week, across several sports, players around the DMV (D.C./Maryland/Virginia) shine in individual performance. Every Monday, I’d like to take a minute to highlight some of those performances, including what I view as the best performance and name that athlete the “DMV Star of the Week.”

This week’s DMV Star of the Week is George Washington guard James Bishop IV

The 6’2” guard from Baltimore returned for his senior season and has been scoring at will once again this season.

On the year, Bishop is averaging 18.5 PPG and 4.7 APG while shooting 43% from the field.

This past week, in GW’s first two conference games of the season, Bishop put together his best two game stretch of the season.

First, in Wednesday’s triple overtime loss to Fordham, the George Washington point guard scored 32 points, including four three’s, while bringing in 5 rebounds, dishing out 6 assists and blocking 3 shots.

Three days later, the Revs avenged the loss to Fordham in a road win against VCU thanks in large part to Bishop’s 28 point performance to go along with his 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.

To get Bishop back for his final year of eligibility was huge for Head Coach Chris Caputo and GW, and his performance this year has already been the difference in multiple wins for the team.

Up next, the Revs host back-to-back games at home against Davidson and George Mason.

The DMV saw eight teams in action this past week, including the Washington Commanders, Washington Wizards, Washington Capitals, and the Maryland, Georgetown, George Washington, Howard, and American basketball teams
