DMV Star of the Week - Kendall Fuller

Every week, across several sports, players around the DMV (D.C./Maryland/Virginia) shine in individual performance. Every Monday, I’d like to take a minute to highlight some of those performances, including what I view as the best performance and name that athlete the “DMV Star of the Week.”

This week’s DMV Star of the Week is Washington Commanders Cornerback Kendall Fuller.

The Commanders got a huge 24-16 win over the Falcons on Sunday, with a big reason why being the Washington defense, specifically the veteran cornerback, Kendall Fuller.

In the win, which snapped a three game losing skid, Fuller led the team with 9 solo tackles and added an interception of Falcons QB Desmond Ridder.

The pick by Fuller was his second of the season and his 9 solo tackles was a season-high and also the most he’s had in a game since 2018 when he was with Kansas City.

With the win, Washington moves back to .500 on the year with a road trip to face the Giants up next.

The DMV saw six teams in action this past week, including the Washington Commanders, Washington Capitals, Washington Spirit, Maryland and Howard football teams, and Washington Wizards in preseason

Here are some honorable mention performances for DMV Star of the Week:

  • Maryland Quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa went 27/39 for 266 yards and 2 touchdowns in Saturday’s loss to Illinois

  • Commanders Quarterback Sam Howell threw for 151 yards and 3 touchdowns in Sunday’s 24-16 win over Atlanta
