Week 2 recap and how to save your fantasy team.

This week's recap of the second week of the NFL is brought to you by, the Grim Reaper. In week 1 saw a lot of injuries to big-name players. George Kittle, Michael Thomas, LeVeon Bell, the list goes on. All of these players were first through fourth-round picks across most fantasy leagues. Week 2 was brutal, for a lack of better terms, holy shit... Here is just a short overview of some of the biggest names that fell to injury.

We're heading into week 3 and some of the biggest names on the block will be out for multiple weeks, if not the whole year. Here is how you can salvage your team.

What you can do to save your season

Quarterback

Drew Lock (Broncos) got knocked out of the game with a shoulder injury, and Tyrod Taylor (Chargers) was a last-minute scratch with chest complications. The biggest name of the bunch is Jimmy Garoppolo. He missed the second half after suffering a high-ankle sprain that most likely will keep him out next week.

All are middle of the tier QB's around most leagues. If you need to fill the whole, Derek Carr (Raiders) and Mitchell Tribusky (Bears) performed well in Week 2. If in fact, Tyrod misses next week, you could also gamble with Justin Herbert. If Gardner Minshew is available, snatch him up while you can. The guy tossed 6 TDs over the past two weeks and can be valuable down the line.

Running Back

For Giants fans, this is a heartbreaker. Saquon Barkley tore his ACL as well and is out for the remainder of the season. Christian McCaffrey is slated to miss a few weeks with a high ankle sprain. Both first-round fantasy picks are huge holes to fill.

Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman (49ers) both left the game with knee injuries. If both are out, Jerrick McKinnon is a wise option to add for depth.

Cam Akers had a rib injury that caused his early exit. Malcolm Brown was also banged up in the game. Darrell Henderson Jr was originally the odd man out but had a great game against Philadelphia due to his teammate's injuries. He is no CMC but could help fill the void over the next week or so.

Devonta Freeman has just signed with the Giants and is only on 15% of rosters.

Wide Receivers / Tight Ends

Davante Adams, Courtland Sutton, Sterling Shepard, and Paris Campbell all fell to injuries this week as well.

Laviska Shenault Jr. and Keelan Cole Sr. (Jaguars) are having decent starts to the season, both could be flex options if needed. Mohammed Sanu (49ers) is looking to rejuvenate his career and will be expected to the product with all of the injuries San Fran has. Damiere Byrd (Patriots) is rostered by 1% of the fantasy league. He is one to keep in the back of your head, as he begins to regrow chemistry with Cam Newton.

George Kittle owners can catch their breath, as he is expected to play next week.

Defense / Special Teams

We already talked about all of the offense that the 49ers lost, but their defense is taking a beating. Richard Sherman already headed to the IR, but their pass rush took a major blow. Both Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas tore their ACL's and are out for the year. Dropping them would be a safe option.

The Cardinals and Packers both have performed well and are riding 2-0 records. A sleeper pick could be the Giants, who have recorded multiple sacks and at least one turnover in both games. Facing the diminished 49ers next week could see them produce.

Kickers

They matter too! Falcons Kicker, Younghoe Koo went 4/4 and made 3 extra points. If you flex your kicker every week, check out Zane Gonzalez of the Cardinals or Randy Bullock of the Bengals.

Week 2 MVP's

QB: Dak Prescott (Cowboys): 450 yards passing, 1 TD. 18 yards rushing, 3 TD; 39.8 points

RB: Aaron Jones (Packers): 168 yards rushing, 2 TD. 4 catches, 68 yards receiving, 1 TD; 45.6 points

WR: Calvin Ridley (Falcons): 7 catches, 109 yards, 2 TD; 29.9 points

TE: Tyler Higbee (Rams): 5 catches, 54 yards, 3 TD; 28.4 points

D/ST: Ravens: 4 sacks, 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery, 1 TD: 15 points

K: Younghoe Koo (Falcons): 4/4 FG, 3 XPM: 15 points

The Matchups

Zimmer was the points leader, dropping 167 against Sam Basel. Zimmer, Tondo, Hanold, and Ben remain undefeated; while Mastrianni, Ford, and Densen fall to 0-2.

Week 2 Picks

To close out Week 2, the Saints were the lock. Coach Gruden and the Las Vegas Rrrrrraiderrrrss said "not today".

Currently, Hanold holds 1st place with a 3 game lead. Tied for second is Boston Beers and Ford. A 3-way tie for third is Tondo, Basel, and Mastrianni. Zimmer and Ben Allen share the 4th best record. In last place, just like the Jets, is ClubFootJim.

Take the Saints game out of the equation, Hanold would have netted himself a perfect week. Unfortunately, he did not choose the Bengals over the Browns. The text he sent during the game was the nail on the coffin.
