Tonight we get a battle of two washed bums: Verlander vs Scherzer

Can you believe less than two months ago these two were teammates? Well tonight, Scherzer and Verlander will go head-to-head for the first time in their careers when the Rangers and Astros play at Globe Life Field on Wednesday in the finale of a key three-game series.

Listen, I know the title says two washed bums but I'm gonna be honest. I think Max is way more washed than Verlander. Verlander had a lot of bright spots on the Mets and in his final two months with the Mets he absolutely dealed with a sub 2 ERA.

Max on the other hand is a complete loser and the definition of washed. Every big spot he was put in with the Mets he completely crumbled. He had no "clutch" or "him" gene and he didn't care either.

He would have an abysmal outing and then go to the post game press conference with some bullshit like "I just gotta pitch better."

This is a huge game for the Rangers as their playoff chances are quickly sinking. They have fallen out of the AL wildcard race and are now third in the AL West. The Astros are currently -225 to win the division and have taken the first two games of the series. This would qualify as a MASSIVE game for the Rangers, so expect Max to choke big time.

While they both might be at the tail end of their careers, we cannot overlook how historic this matchup is. According to Elias, Verlander and Scherzer's 467 combined career wins will be the most by opposing starters over the past 15 seasons. It will be the first time since CC Sabathia and Mark Buehrle squared off in 2015 that there has been a meeting of two starters with at last 200 career wins.

Astros @ Rangers 8:05 ET from Globe Life Field
