Words of Wisdom, with John Fanta; College Sports Play-by-Play Broadcaster at FOX Sports

Words of Wisdom is back for 2021! We have had some incredible guests last year, who have shared their stories and have offered invaluable words of advice for individuals who are aspiring to excel in life and their respective careers.

This week, we want to highlight a House Enterprise favorite and friend of the program, John Fanta. If you don't know the man, the myth, the legend, let me explain. Fanta is the College Sports Play-by-Play Broadcaster for FOX Sports as well as the Host of Big-East Shootaround. You may have seen his work on FS1, NBA TV, ESPN+, and Big East Digital. He is an honest and personable online personalty, who

We spoke with Fanta and he shared with us how he entered into the sports journalism world, how his hard work and dedication helped excel his career, his love for the game and fandom of Clevland/Ohio sports, and his tips on the trade on how he became successful. He has captured the hearts of College Hoops fans, and the respect from coaches across the league including Providence's Ed Cooley, and Georgetown's HC and NBA Legend, Patrick Ewing.

For aspiring journalists and individuals who want advice for excelling in their respective careers, here are John's words of wisdom.

“Build yourself up and build your network. The opportunities are endless when you are prepared and ready. Also, never say no, it is so important to just say yes, you do not know what it will lead to. You never know what opportunities are ahead or what outcomes might happen because of that, yes, and it will only be beneficial for the future. Also, know your limitations. On top of this, taking care of yourself is important. I know I said, ‘say yes to everything’, but your own health and well-being is important.”

John is one of the most friendly and energetic college hoops personalities in the game. When you hear his commanding voice and infectious laugh, you get a smile on your face and you know you are about to watch a helluva basketball game.

John is a recurring guest and one of our personal favorites. You can find both of his episodes here and here.
