Buies Creek, NC- From the swamp to the creek.

John Andrzejek comes to Buies Creek as a National Champion. The Florida Gators cut down the nets in San Antonio on Monday night. Andrzejek did not have long to bask in the glory of college basketball's shining achievement. In less than 48 hours, he was introduced as the new head men's basketball coach for the Campbell Fighting Camels.
The Hamilton, New York native is used to being in a small town. Hamilton and Buies Creek are similar in population, with small mid-major schools with decorated hoops history as well. Andrzejek has embraced the small town of Buies Creek already just as it has embraced him, "I'm excited to live here. Not in a Raleigh suburb but right here in Harnett County," said Coach Andrzejek at his Wednesday press conference.
He comes from two highly regarded coaching trees in the modern era of college basketball. He spent two stints with current Stanford Head Coach Kyle Smith, first at Columbia as a Student Manager and Director of Basketball Operations from 2012-2015, and most recently at Washington State as an Assistant Coach from 2019-2023. Andrzejek spent the last two seasons as the defensive coordinator for Todd Golden, culminating in a national championship on Monday night.
"They told me to be myself. We have a lot of similarities in our different programs on how we do stuff. Great attitude, great work ethic and pride in the program. That's what we will emphasize in everything we will do," said Andrzejek, when asked if Golden or Smith had shared any advice on taking over a program.
Campbell enters its third season in the Coastal Athletic Association after a .500 record in conference play the previous two seasons under former head coach Kevin McGeehan, who was relieved of his duties on March 9th, 2025, after 12 seasons leading the program.
